DILG: Nothing wrong with police encouraging support for Anti-Terror Bill

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) does not see anything wrong with the police encouraging support for the Anti-Terror Bill.

In a memorandum issued by the Nueva Ecija Police, cops have been tasked to personally visit local chief executives in the province to urge them to deliver a short message of support for the Anti-Terror Bill.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año stated that there is nothing wrong with encouragement. The police did not threaten the local government to support the bill.

The DILG Chief himself is enjoining the public to support the Anti-Terror Bill since it will ensure the people’s safety against terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to release a statement regarding the memo and the PNP Regional Office 3 is prepared to explain its side of the issue.
