Roque assesses gov’t response on COVID-19

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday assessed the country’s fight against COVID-19 on the 100th day of the community quarantine in Metro Manila.

“Sang-ayon nga sa obserbasyon ng mga taga-World Bank kay Secretary Dominguez, we probably saved 99,000 lives dahil mahigit-kumulang isang libo lang ang namamatay dito sa ating bayan (Based on the observation of the World Bank and Sec. Dominguez, we probably saved 99,000 lives since only more or less 1,000 have died in our country),” Roque disclosed.

We want to see zero transmission but we are still far from it… So our request- since there’s no cure and vaccine for it- is to stay healthy, clean, and [observe] social distancing),” Roque added.

Roque also said the IATF-EID will discuss this week the fate of the quarantine classifications in the country for July.

Meanwhile, he announced the important activities of President Duterte for this week.

Pero itong linggo po ay 36th ASEAN summit (He will prepare for his public address later and some members of the IATF will be present. But this week, the 36th ASEAN summit will be held).”

He is also scheduled to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives to fight terrorism in Mindanao),” he added. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
