PNP: Cebu City residents abide by quarantine protocols with SAF presence

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported that most Cebu City residents have been abiding by the quarantine protocols since the Special Action Force was deployed in the area.

According to PNP Chief Police General Archie Gamboa, they are slowly seeing changes in the attitude of Cebuanos. The Joint Task Force COVID Shield trusts that the purpose of deploying SAF Commandos in the city has been achieved.

“We want to duplicate this success in Cebu City as part of our mandate to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by containing the movement of local residents and disallowing unnecessary travels” JTF COVID Shield Commander PLt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar stated.

There are 11 drone patrol units deployed in areas with high numbers of quarantine violators.

“The purpose of drone deployment is that if ECQ violators are observed in a particular area, troops will be immediately sent there to enforce the quarantine rules”.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief Gamboa warned violators of quarantine protocols that they will be apprehended if they do not follow the rules. – Report from Bea Bernardo
