Palace considers personal delivery, live telecast of SONA

Malacañang is considering two options for the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte this month.

“Dalawa nga lang po ang pinag-uusapan: Pwedeng pumunta physically si Presidente na mayroon lang around 50 members of Congress, both from the House and the Senate. Or pwedeng live telecast na lang siya pero reduced capacity rin dahil even under MGCQ, it will have to be 50% of capacity of Congress. (Two are being considered, President Duterte may go physically with only 50 members of Congress attending, both from the House and Senate. Or a live telecast with reduced capacity. Even under MGCQ, it will have to be 50% of capacity of Congress),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque disclosed.

Meanwhile, a series of pre-SONA fora will be conducted where various agencies will report on the programs of the administration for each sector for the past year. The forum will start on Tuesday and will also be attended by economic development and infrastructure cabinet clusters. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
