IATF-EID announces details of the NAP second phase

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has announced the details on the second phase of the National Action Plan in response to the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

NTF Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. has laid out the second phase in three important points. First is making sure that the public is abiding by the minimum health standard. He stressed the importance of prevention in saving lives. Provinces with “unity of efforts” have satisfying results.

“One of the major imperatives of the NAP is changing people’s mindset that the success of our campaign is basically anchored on the people’s support and active participation and vigilance to strictly observe and promote the minimum health standards and disease prevention.”

Second, Secretary Galvez has pointed out that misunderstanding in politics has resulted to worse problems and disobedience of the public just like what happened in Cebu where cases are increasing sharply.

Third, the strengthening of the local and national government capacity in responding to the COVID-19 cases. He explained that due to the country’s health care facility, the number of deaths have gone down.

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has initially said that the first phase of the NAP is a success after the government implemented an early lockdown.
