PRRD discourages Mayor Sara to run for president

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has once again warned his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Duterte-Carpio, against running for the presidency.

In a speech delivered to soldiers in Sulu, the Chief Executive mentioned that the Davao City Mayor will only get exhausted if she aims for the highest position in the land as she is most likely to face all the challenges he is currently tackling. He added that Mayor Inday can only run for President if she is “driven by patriotism” and not ambition.

“Suweldo mo 194,000. Ang ibang generals dito mas malaki pa sa suweldo ko, totoo lang. Sinabi ko kay Inday ‘wag kang mag-presidente unless you see something na kaya mo para gawain mo sa bayan, unless you are driven by patriotism. O ‘yan, kung gusto mo talaga mag-service sa bayan mo, sabi ko sa kanya. In English they say, if you cannot stand the heat in the kitchen, get out. (Your pay is Php 194,000. Other generals here have higher salaries than mine. I told Inday, do not run for president unless you see something you can do for the country, unless you are driven by patriotism. Or if you really want to render service for the country. I told her in English, if you cannot stand the heat in the kitchen, get out.” – Report from Mela Lesmoras
