Back-riding allowed for APORs and essential workers under MECQ

The National Task Force against COVID-19 has allowed motorcycle pillion-riding under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine for Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs), frontliners and health workers provided that rules are adhered to.

The backriding policies include providing a protective barrier between the rider and passenger, the driver must own the motorcycle being used and there must be no profiteering at the expense of the essential workers.

“Ito parang kawang gawa na lang ito dahil sa situation natin ngayon bawal po kasi ngayon ang public utility vehicles so tulong na rin natin sa ating mga essential workers (This is a form of assistance to the essential workers since there are no public utility vehicles available due to the situation),” Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) Chief PCol. Wilson Doromal has stated.

Those who will buy essential goods and avail of other services are prohibited to backride. It is strictly implemented only for work-related matters. – Report from Bea Bernardo
