Gov’t opens One Hospital Command Center

The government launched on Thursday the One Hospital Command Center (OHCC) to monitor the situation of occupancy rate and critical care resources of hospitals in the country.

The program was established after the capacity of medical facilities at the National Capital Region (NCR) hit the danger zone amid the increasing number of coronavirus disease (CoVID-19) patients.

The Department of Health (DOH) and Inter- Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) have also tapped the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for the program which lent its facilities to be utilized for operations.

Health Undersecretary and treatment czar Leopoldo Vega who led the program said the OHCC would prevent overcrowding and full capacity utilization of hospitals. It would also help determine referral hospitals for patients who go to facilities with full capacity.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III who was present in the event entrusted this task to USec. Vega that aims target to decongest hospitals. NTF on COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez added the program would help prevent the rise of mortality rate caused by the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana disclosed One Hospital Command Center will also be established in other regions. – Report from Mark Fetalco
