Taal Volcano shows signs of activity

Taal Volcano has emitted smoke again Tuesday morning.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has recorded the activity of the volcano at past 8:00 in the morning. The agency has also recorded 5 volcanic earthquakes.

However, PHIVOLCS clarified that it is normal and the status of the volcano remains at alert level 1. The volcanic activity has no connection to the earthquake in Masbate.

The volcano is currently showing no signs of hazardous explosive eruption but the PHIVOLCS reminded the public that it is still prohibited to go to the Taal Volcano Island. It is considered a permanent danger zone. – Report from Louisa Erispe
