DA7 gives more than P3M worth of farm equipment to Daanbantayan farmers.

Purgason Maya Farmers Association (PURMAFA) in Barangay Maya, Daanbantayan, Cebu received 1 unit 4WD 90HP tractor with accessories worth P2.7M, 1 unit corn dehusker worth P220,000, and 1 unit corn mill worth P440,000.

These farm machineries interventions are under the Corn Program of the Department of Agriculture 7 (DA7). This is in support of the 50-hectare Corn Model Farm that the association has recently implemented.

DA7 Regional Technical Director Marina T. Hermoso stated that the farm mechanization program aims to improve the farm productivity and income of the corn farmer beneficiaries.

Mr. Ismael Dejito, the association president, expressed his gratitude to the Department of Agriculture and Daanbantayan LGU for the continued support to the corn farmers in the municipality.

“We will make use of this opportunity to improve our farming and we promised to take care of these equipment,” Dejito added.

The blessing and turnover of the equipment on August 18, 2020 in barangay Maya, Daanbantayan was attended by Mayor Sun Shimura, Municipal Agriculturist Ma. Lina Jugan, Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 7 officials headed by RTD Marina Hermoso, Barangay Maya officials headed by Barangay Captain Ellein Conje, and PURMAFA members.
