The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has filed charges against 49 barangay officials with the Office of the Ombudsman.

According to DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño, the filed cases are in relation to the irregularities in the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) and poor implementation of the quarantine protocols in their respective areas.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) are building up cases against 155 barangay officials regarding anomalies surrounding the SAP. The agency is currently verifying more than 500 complaints it received.
