BSP forecasts August 2020 inflation to settle within the 2.5-3.3% range

The BSP Department of Economic Research projects August 2020 inflation to settle within the 2.5 – 3.3 percent range. Higher domestic prices of gasoline and LPG provide upward price pressure during the month. These could be offset in part by the continued decline in Meralco power rates and the sustained appreciation of the peso along with broadly stable food prices.

Moving forward, the BSP will continue to monitor emerging price developments to ensure that its primary mandate of price stability conducive to balanced and sustainable economic growth is achieved.
