Alleged terrorist killed in Zamboanga clash

Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) disclosed that the forces of the 44th Infantry Battalion and Naval Special Operations Unit have encountered a local terrorist group in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The combat took place for half an hour, leaving two soldiers and three civilians wounded. A suspected terrorist was killed in the clash. The slain suspected terrorist was identified as Idris Aquilon who is an alleged member of Dawlah Islamiya-Abu Sayyaf Group, and an alleged associate of Basilan Abu Sayyaf leader Furuji Indama.

Authorities have seized explosive materials and bullets in the incident.

WesMinCom Commander MGen. Corleto Vinluan assured is a statement that their “joint task forces continuously employ more pressure on the remaining local terrorists to gain more enemy strongholds and end terrorism in Western and Central Mindanao.” – Report from Bea Bernardo
