PRRD names new COMELEC commissioner

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has named the new Commissioner of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Attorney Michael Braganza Peloton was nominated to replace retired Commissioner Luie Tito Guia.

According to COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez, Peloton will still undergo confirmation by the Commission on Appointments before he officially takes over since Congress is in regular session.

Once his nomination is confirmed, he will officially sit as COMELEC Commissioner until February 2, 2027.

Meanwhile, COMELEC Chairperson Sheriff Abas expressed gratitude over the nomination, “Commissioner Peloton is a timely addition to the Commission En Banc as his vast experience in the field of Law and Information Technology will highly contribute in our thrust to further improve and revolutionize our electoral process.”

Peloton is from Davao City and has served as a board member of the Philippine Reclamation Authority in 2018. He became a technical assistant to the Presidential Management Staff of the Office of the President in 2017.
