JTF COVID Shield orders local police to prepare for tourist arrival

With the opening of tourism in several areas in the Philippines, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will play a big role in ensuring the strict implementation of the minimum health protocols amidst the coronavirus diseases 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Joint Task Force COVID Shield has tasked the local police to prepare for the arrival of visitors within their jurisdiction. Among the tourist destinations that announced their readiness to open are Tagaytay, Boracay, and Baguio.

According to the JTF COVID Shield, the local police must coordinate with their respective local government units (LGUs).

JTF COVID Shield Commander Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar stated that the LGUs will decide on the guidelines to implement in accommodating tourists. He also advised tourists to know the implemented protocols of the places they plan to visit and to always remember that COVID-19 is still present. – Report from Bea Bernardo
