Gov’t affirms commitment vs. PhilHealth corruption amid online challenge

Malacañang assured the government will continue to strictly monitor the corruption issues at the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in response to the “#wag_kalimutan_yung_binulsang_15billion_sa_philhealth_challenge” in social media.

“The Department of Justice, through its PhilHealth Task Force, is finalizing the complaints identified in its report to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for filing before the proper venue,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque disclosed.

“At the same time, the composite teams tasked to look into but not limited to the PhilHealth Legal Sector are continuing their investigation,” Roque added.

Roque also emphasized that the “zero tolerance” policy against corruption play an important role in the current administration.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier formed a task force to investigate the alleged corruption activities within the PhilHealth. Initial findings it released last week showed the negligence of some officials regarding the implementation of the Interim Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM), Information and Communications Technology (ICT) equipment, and internal probe failure. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
