DepEd NCR ready for class opening

The Department of Education in the National Capital Region (DepEd NCR) is all geared up for the upcoming opening of classes on Monday, October 5.

DepEd NCR Regional Director Malcolm Garma reported that teachers in the region are all set and the printing of self-learning modules (SLMs) in all 16 school divisions is on track. Three school divisions have already completed the distribution of modules to students.

Garma said Schools Division Supervisors in the NCR have undergone training for teaching strategies under distance learning and assessment, while nearly 70,000 teachers have been trained for “new normal” schooling.

Parents and guardians have also been prepared to assist teachers by guiding students amid the implementation of distance learning.

DepEd NCR admitted that there are still problems that need to be addressed but assured that they are now being addressed.

There are currently more than 2.6 million enrollees in the NCR, the highest in the country. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
