Statement of Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on the high trust rating of President Rodrigo Duterte amid the COVID-19 pandemic

We welcome the outcome of the recent PulseAsia Research Inc.’s survey which polled the trust ratings of top government officials from September 14 to 20, 2020.

President Duterte garnered a 91% trust rating among Filipinos amid the COVID-19 pandemic that the country continues to deal with.

We see that our recent undertakings, namely the President’s signing of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, the issuance of Proclamation No. 1021 extending the declaration of a state of calamity in the Philippines until September 12, 2021, and expanding and intensifying the country’s COVID-19 capabilities, among others, in response to the virus have helped pave the way and yield this positive response and high trust rating among Filipinos.

Furthermore, our dedication to revitalizing and reopening our economy through our recovery programs, economic stimulus packages, and labor assistance, among others, have also contributed to this outstanding result.

This remarkable recognition by our countrymen is also a testament to the Duterte administration’s commitment towards our fight against all forms of corruption and criminality as we endeavored, throughout the pandemic, to make former PhilHealth officials accountable for their corrupt practices within the agency.

Despite the relentless and at times farcical attacks and criticisms from the opposition and critics, we will continue to strive to expand our COVID-19 responses in order for us to heal and recover as one nation and to provide more programs and services for the betterment of the lives of all Filipinos.
