The implementation of road clearing operations in areas with general community quarantine (GCQ) classification and lower will resume on November 16.

Based on Memorandum Circular No. 2020-145 of the DILG, “full implementation” of the policy is expected for areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) and New Normal.

Areas under GCQ will have partial implementation which is limited to “actual or physical removal or abatement of road and sidewalk obstructions that are considered hazardous to motorists and pedestrians” and road clearing “for the purposes of establishing bicycle lanes.”

“Ang deadline po ay January 15, 2021. Mayroon pong dalawang buwan ang ating LGUs para ipagpatuloy ang road clearing programs sa kanilang lugar (The deadline is January 15, 2020. Our LGUs have two months to continue road clearing programs in their areas),” DILG USec. Jonathan Malaya stated.

Aside from the deadline, LGUs are advised that road clearing operation is a “year-round activity.” Barangays that will be implementing the policy are ordered to “resume the submission of their regular reports” to the DILG.

The new memorandum also emphasized that the policy prohibiting tricycles and motorized pedicabs along national roads and highways shall be re-imposed. Clarifications and queries concerning road clearing operations may be communicated to [email protected]. – PTV News Online
