Around 20,000 individuals were evacuated in Laguna due to the threat posed by Typhoon Rolly which made its landfall over the weekend.
“At this hour, from 7,500 families na nasa evacuation centers natin ay mayroon na lang tayong 6,000 (At this hour, there are now only 6,000 families staying in our evacuation centers from the 7,500 families evacuated),” Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez reported on Monday noon.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said it is in close coordination with the Provincial Health Office to maintain health protocols amid the combined threat of COVID-19 and Typhoon Rolly.
“Karamihan po sa mga munisipyo ay nagpadala po ng facemask, nagpadala ng alcohol. Then inalok din naman po natin sila ng additional tents, pero sapat naman daw ‘yung kanilang facility para maipatupad ‘yung social distancing (Most municipalities have required face masks and alcohol. They were also offered additional tents, but they said their facilities are enough to observe social distancing),” Laguna DRRMO OIC Aldwin Cejo stated.
The number of evacuees in the facilities is expected to go down as flooding has already subsided in some areas.
As of Monday afternoon, the power supply of the municipalities of Majayjay, Pangil, and Paete have been cut. No heavy damage was recorded aside from flooding.
“Zero casualty naman po tayo. Sa ngayon ay normal ang flow ng lahat ng sasakyan. Wala namang damaged na kalsada maliban sa isang tulay (We have zero casualty. The flow of vehicles is normal. No roads were damaged, except for one bridge),” Gov. Hernandez reported. – Report from Louisa Erispe
