Siony to hit Batanes, Babuyan Islands by Friday

PAGASA is closely monitoring Typhoon Siony which is expected to make its landfall in Batanes and the Babuyan Islands this coming Friday but this could still change. PAGASA says Siony can develop into a severe tropical storm within 24 hours. It is slowly moving east northeastward and is last seen 565 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes. Its strength is 85 kilometers per hour with a gustiness of 105 km/h.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Rolly has slowly gained strength on its way out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility today. It is still considered a tropical storm but no longer has a direct effect on the country. – PTV News
