Mainland Cagayan safe from heavy impact of Siony

Mainland Cagayan Valley was spared from the onslaught of severe tropical storm Siony and fair weather was reported in some parts of the region since this morning.

Based on the 5 p.m. weather bulletin of PAGASA, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has already been lifted in mainland Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, and in northern portions of Apayao and Ilocos Norte.

However, Batanes is still under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1. Siony is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tonight.

The regular activities of residents have resumed since no serious weather disturbance took place. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has already allowed some fishing activities.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that there was no preemptive evacuation in the entirety of Cagayan, especially in areas usually monitored during typhoons. No flooding and landslides were recorded while all roads and bridges remain passable. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
