PNP welcomes US-Gallup survey on law and order

The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed the inclusion of the Philippines as one of the safest countries in the world based on the US-Gallup Survey.

In the 2020 Global Law and Order Survey of Gallup, the Philippines has received an index score of 84 in law and order and tanked 12th along with Australia, New Zealand, and Poland. The survey also includes the citizens’ confidence in the police.

According to PNP Chief Police General Camilo Cascolan, the 9-point agenda implemented by the national police that centers on the discipline of the police and the fight against criminality and drugs has greatly helped in making it to the survey.
However, PGen. Cascolan disclosed that high morale and taking care of the cops’
welfare are the most effective ways “they will enhance and work to their maximum” and gain public trust.

Joint Task Force COVID Shield Commander Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar pointed out that the government’s aggressive campaign against drugs bore a fruitful outcome.

“All along, President Rodrigo Duterte was right when he said that the illegal drugs problem is the root cause of most of the crimes in the country.” Eleazar added.

The data of the PNP shows that for the first 3 years of the administration of President Duterte, the nationwide crime index has gone down to 62%

The national police assured that it will continue to strengthen its presence in the community to lessen the crimes in the country. – Report from Bea Bernardo
