Cost of TY Rolly’s Infra damage balloons to ₱12-B, death toll at 25

The accounted damage and number of casualties of super Typhoon Rolly is still increasing more than a week after its landfall in the country.

Data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) show that a total of 25 individuals have died from the typhoon, including four in Calabarzon and 21 in the Bicol Region.

Of the four deaths in Calabarzon, three are from Batangas and one is from Quezon. In the tally of Bicol Region, 13 casualties are from Albay, six from Catanduanes, and two from Camarines Sur.

The cost of Rolly’s infrastructure damage has been estimated at ₱12 billion, including the severe damages sustained by the Bicol Region amounting to ₱11 billion.

Data also show that agricultural damage has already reached ₱2 billion.

Around 124 municipalities and areas in Regions IV-A, IV-B, and 5 are still experiencing brownout. At least 36 areas in the three regions do not have supply of water.

Network interruption is still being experienced in at least 75 municipalities and cities. – Report from Bea Bernardo
