Quezon Province on full alert as TY Ulysses intensifies


Residents in Quezon Province have been alerted of a possible three-meter high storm surge as Typhoon Ulysses intensifies while moving closer towards the Quezon-Aurora territory.

As of Wednesday noon, strong winds, rough seas, and heavy downpour have been experienced in Calauag, Quezon. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) operations in the entire province has already been raised to red alert status since Tuesday night through a memorandum from the governor.

The PDRRMC is currently on standby for preemptive evacuation operations in coastal and high-risk areas. Tayabas City DRRMO has already conducted clearing operations in preparation for the storm. It has also created a team to monitor the river water level

As of 2 p.m. of Wednesday, the northern and central portions of Quezon are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3, while the rest of the province is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2. – Report from Tom Alvarez/Radyo Pilipinas
