Ulysses leaves 11 dead in CAR


The death toll in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) due to the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses has reached 11 as of November 15, according to the Office of Civil Defense in the region.

Nine of the reported casualties are from Ifugao and two are from Benguet. An individual is also missing in Ifugao as of Monday morning, while three were injured in the entire region.

One house and a payloader conducting clearing operations were buried by landslide during the typhoon.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Cordillera and concerned LGUs have already given almost ₱375,000 worth of assistance to 847 families or 3,278 individuals.

Based on the report of DSWD Cordillera, a total of 408 houses were ran down in the region. Twenty-five were totally damaged and 383 were partially shattered. At least six schools had infrastructure damages.

The Department of Agriculture in CAR (DA-CAR) also recorded an estimated ₱93,066,164.337 worth of damages in agriculture due to Typhoon Ulysses.

Meanwhile, the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) has already prepared for Oplan Tulong Cagayan to provide services and assistance to victims of massive flooding in Cagayan. – Report from Jorton Campana/PTV Cordillera
