Marikina classes suspended for 1 month

Marikina City will resume classes next year following the one-month suspension of classes issued by Mayor Marcy Teodoro due to the massive impact brought about by Typhoon Ulysses.

The issuance covers the suspension from November 16 to December 16.

“Ito’y mabibigyan ng tamang panahon ang ating mga kababayan para i-rebuild, buuin ulit ang kanilang buhay. ‘Di lang naman [ito] paglilinis (This will give ample time for our constituents to rebuild their houses, restore their lives. It’s not only about cleaning),” Teodoro stated.

“Higit sa lahat economic opportunity nila, ‘yung kabuhayan nila. Marami kaming kababayan ngayon ‘di alam kung saan kukuha ng pambili ng pagkain (Most of all, their economic opportunity, their livelihood. Many of our residents do now know where to get the money to buy food),” Teodoro continued.

Teodoro also appealed for opportunities to be offered to residents of Marikina since they were deprived of their sources of income by the calamities.

With all the accumulated mud and garbage, the city has already purchased medicines for Leptospirosis last Friday. Those in need of such medicines have been advised to go to their nearest health centers.

Meanwhile, a 60-percent capacity has been implemented in all evacuation centers to prevent the spread of coronavirus. – Report from Karen Villanda
