No more isolated areas in Cagayan – Gov. Mamba

Areas in Cagayan Valley that were isolated by floods and previously out of land assets’ reach are now accessible as waters subside.

“Ang alam ko is part ng Baggao dahil doon sa landslide. Pero may alternate route kasi iyon kaya lang mas mahaba. I would not say na isolated, pero ‘yung landslide doon ‘di pa natapos matanggal (I know that a part of Baggao [was affected] due to the landslide, but there is an alternate route albeit longer. I would not say it is isolated, but the landslide has not yet been fully cleared),” Governor Manuel Mamba stated.

Amid the gradual recovery of the province from the massive flooding, the local government is now concerned with the possible spike of COVID-19 cases due to the crowd evacuation centers and the easing of restrictions to allow entry of relief operations.

As of November 17 evening, there are 166 active COVID-19 cases in the province.

In case of leptospirosis, authorities assured that medicines have been prepositioned. They also advised residents who are experiencing symptoms to immediately seek assistance in health facilities. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
