ZAMBOANGA CITY — The West Metro Medical Center (West Metro) and Zamboanga Press Club, Inc. (ZPCI) on Saturday conducted a medical mission that benefited 46 members and dependents of the ZPCI.
Of the total beneficiaries, 36 were adults and the remaining 10 were children who availed of the free medical consultation from two physicians of West Metro.
Aside from free consultation, beneficiaries also availed of random blood sugar test, cholesterol test, and uric acid test.
The medical mission through a pop-up clinic was held at the second floor of the ZPCI office on Pilar Street, Barangay Zone IV, this city.
“We came up with this activity to help our co-workers in the media industry as well as their relatives. We should also think of our health,” ZPCI Committee on Health Chair Hermie Ventura said.
Ventura, the ZPCI auditor, said the medical mission would be held on a yearly basis with the help of the ZPCI supporters like the West Metro for the benefit of the club members and local media industry workers and their dependents.
The conduct of the medical mission was proposed by West Metro President and Chief Executive Officer Ramon Diaz to ZPCI President Teofilo Garcia Jr. during the renewal of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the two parties.
The West Metro and ZPCI has a standing MOA for the grant of five percent discount on all medicines purchased at MedExpress Drugstore to all club members in good standing.
The West Metro team to the medical mission was led by Dr. Wilhelmina Hocson, pediatrician and West Metro Medical Center director; Dr. Crystal Joy Bolodo, Internal Medicine Resident; and, nurses Faida Misuari, Rea Elika Chan, Rechi Von Vesagas, Joan Epan and Gay Mary Cruz and Marking Manager Monabelle Blanco-Delgado.
The West Metro is operated by the Metro Pacific Zamboanga Hospital Corporation and is a proud member of the Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings, Inc.
Among those who extended support to the activity were Councilor Miguel Alavar III, City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos and Bureau of Customs personnel. (PNA)
