PRRD reminds Filipinos to follow minimum health standards amid the holidays

President Rodrigo R. Duterte reminded the public to comply with the minimum health protocols especially this holiday season.

“Importante is that you wear mask, then washing of hands, tapos social distancing. Kung maaari lang huwag ka na lumapit. Hindi na uso ngayon kapag lumapit ka pa (It is important that you wear mask, then washing of hands, then social distancing. If it is possible, do not get close. It does not go with the times anymore).”

According to Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III, the public must not be complacent even if the number of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the country is slowing down. A contingency plan will be prepared in anticipation of a possible post-holiday season surge in the number of cases.

The Health Chief pointed out the importance of Department Circular No. 2020-0355. The reiteration of the minimum public health standards for COVID-19 mitigation during the holidays includes reminders on limiting the number of people in family and social gatherings and activities, preferably people within the same household, avoiding activities that require travel to areas with higher quarantine classification, keeping activities as short as possible. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
