DOT, TPB, UP-PGH sign MOA to subsidize RT-PCR test for domestic travelers

The Department of Tourism (DOT), Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines (TPB), and the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) signed a Memorandum of Agreement on the subsidized RT-PCR test for qualified domestic travelers.

In a virtual contract signing, the DOT, TPB, and UP-PGH agreed to decrease the price of the RT-PCR test at the PGH from ₱1,800 to ₱900. This aims to serve around 11,000 qualified domestic tourists in acquiring a swab test as a requirement before proceeding to their respective destinations.
According to the DOT, the lowered price will greatly help in boosting domestic travels in the country. The selection of the qualified local tourists for the subsidized RT-PCR test will be on a first come, first served basis.

For those who wishes to avail of the subsidized RT-PCR, registration with the website, www.tpb.gov.ph/rtpcrphtravel, is necessary.

“The TPB shall evaluate the documents and inform the tourists on the status of their application within a reasonable time,” DOT Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat expained. –Report from Kenneth Paciente
