Manila LGU requires swab test for returning residents from provinces

The Manila city government started the strict implementation of requiring its residents to undergo free swab test after spending their holidays outside the National Capital Region (NCR).

Since January 2, 2021, more than 120 residents have undergone swab testing, 6 of whom were sent home while 45 are set to go home. No residents have tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) to date.

The Manila local government unit admitted that it is a challenge to implement the testing.

Its constituents were encouraged to get the swab test easily since there are no requirements or difficult procedures. Residents can just proceed to the designated swabbing centers in the city or coordinate with their respective barangays.

Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso disclosed that the registrants for the COVID-19 vaccine pre-registration have reached 38,000. He reiterated that they will only utilize vaccines that are “certified, registered, efficient, and safe based on the government agencies.” – Report from Daniel Manalastas
