The Inter-Agency Task Force on Zero Hunger has performed its mandate of creating the National Food Policy and programs that will focus on the problems of hunger and poverty in the Philippines amidst Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The task force was created after President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed Executive Order 101 on January 2020.
According to Task Force Chair and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, the group aims to coordinate government agencies to provide a solution to hunger and ensure the country’s food security.
Task Force Vice Chair and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Bautista said that the National Food Policy will greatly help the country especially in the middle of the global health crisis.
President Rodrigo R. Duterte stated that the National Food Policy is a “welcome development” in creating solutions and ensuring the food security for the coming years.
The Enhanced Partnership against Hunger and Poverty, and the Institutionalization of Zero Hunger Problems are some of the programs the task force has launched.
On the first anniversary of the task force, it will launch the National Food Policy Document that will serve as a roadmap in solving the hunger problem in the country. – PTV News
