COVID-19 UK variant now in 50 countries


The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) UK variant is now detected in 50 countries.

The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed this after the Philippines reported its first case of the said variant from a man who travelled from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Moreover, around 20 countries have been reported to have confirmed cases of the South African strain of COVID-19 while another variant has been detected in Japan. These are now being closely monitored and investigated by the WHO.

The WHO explained that the emergence of different variants of the virus is expected while the disease is continuously spreading. – PTV News
