FDA warns vs. use of certain face mask product

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against the sale and use of disposable face masks with the brand Aidelai.

According to the regulatory body, the quality and safety of the said product has not yet “gone through evaluation process of the FDA.”

“The FDA verified through post-marketing surveillance that the above mentioned medical device product is not notified and no corresponding Product Notification Certificate has been issued,” the FDA advisory read.

The distribution, advertisement, and sale of the product has been prohibited pending the issuance of its notification certificate. The product is reportedly sold at ₱100 per box.

Meanwhile, as of January 15, the Department of Health (DOH) has reported 2,048 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total count to 496,646. Reported recoveries has reached 459,737 and fatalities at 9,876. – Report from Mark Fetalco
