PRRD names 89 brgy captains in alleged SAP anomalies


President Rodrigo Duterte has named 89 barangay captains in the country who are allegedly involved in anomalies in the implementation of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

Majority of the barangay captains are from Region 1 with 12 of them, followed by NCR with 11, Region 2 with 10, Regions 5 and 7 with 9 each, Region 6 with 8, and Region 8 with 7 involved officials.

Based on the list read by the Chief Executive, there are 5 involved barangay captains in Region 11, 4 each in Regions 4A and 4B, 3 each in Regions 3, 10, and CAR, and one in Region 13.

According to the Chief Executive, the said officials were preventively suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman and will face dismissal from service if proven that they engaged in SAP irregularities.

“Suspendido ka habang iniimbestiga ka (You are suspended while being investigated. Then at the end of the investigation, if you are good, then you are exonerated),” he stated.

“If you are guilty, I am asking now the Ombudsman, I’m requesting, most respectfully requesting the Ombudsman to dismiss him. Dismiss them from the service,” he pressed. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
