MMDA, DTI, DA sign deal to ease basic goods prices

Government agencies have signed an agreement to ease the increasing prices of basic goods and commodities in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has signed with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Among the measures in the agreement is the strengthening of the Local Price Coordinating Council to prevent overpricing of goods.

DA Secretary William Dar said wholesalers, traders, and retailers are required to register for the monitoring of their daily activities. The DTI, meanwhile, is planning to issue a list of appropriate prices of products to guide business owners and retailers. The MMDA will provide assistance in price monitoring, deployment of personnel, and to resolve problems arising in marketplaces. – PTV News
