The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised alert level 1 at Mayon Volcano in Albay due to its current irregular condition.
The PHIVOLCS has recorded 7 volcanic earthquakes in the area and white smoke emission from its crater in the past 24 hours. The public has been warned not to enter the 6-kilometer permanent dangerous zone to avoid the sputtering of rocks or landslides from the volcano.
The institute also cautioned about the possible phreatic eruption of Mayon and advised residents against going near active river channels and lahar prone areas especially during heavy rainfall. – PTV News
