PRRD tells public anew, “obey the protocols”

President Rodrigo Duterte has asked the public again to comply with health protocols amid rising COVID-19 cases as the country “would be in serious trouble” if the tally reaches millions.

President Duterte pointed out the carelessness in improperly wearing face masks with the nose not fully covered, saying that there is no relief at all in doing such.

“I hope that you would be religious in obeying the injunctions na sinasabi ng mga ating (stated by our) medical persons simply because we are trying to save our country,” he said.

“The only salvation, actually, for those who have not been sickened with COVID-19 and pending the rollout of the vaccine is really that you follow the protocol imposed by government,” he added.

He explained anew that the compliance to protocols is “for the sake of humanity” while describing the plight of those who will be infected without any resources.

“It’s still dangerous, follow the protocols of preventing it, if at all, and hopefully wait for the rollout of a vaccine. It’s malapit na po (coming soon).”

As of January 25, there are 514,996 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country with 29,282 that are active. A total of 475,422 recovered while 10,292 died.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque on Monday night disclosed that there are already areas in the country that are experiencing critical and high healthcare utilization rate (HCUR) which is also considered in the classification of community quarantines. – PTV News Online
