DTI: E-commerce to help in economic recovery

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) disclosed that e-commerce will greatly help in the recovery of the Philippine economy.

In a public briefing, DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo stated that since the pandemic started, online businesses have become popular. Unlike physical shopping, e-commerce is a faster and easier way to purchase products and sellers are quickly identified.

However, USec. Castelo revealed that the department has so far received 16,000 consumer complaints regarding online businesses.

Online sellers are advised to register their businesses with the DTI and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) so that both consumers and sellers will have their own benefits. Castelo also encouraged the buying public to patronize registered online sellers or businesses. – Report from Ken Bornilla
