The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is considering the prohibition of face-to-face campaigns for the 2022 elections.
According to COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez, the proposal has been made due to the continuous threat of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Aside from this, the commission is also considering the prohibition of distributing campaign materials and house-to-house campaign.
The COMELEC stated that it is open to online campaign, but it is still under review.
The agency is now coordinating with the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) regarding the matter. – PTV News
