Special body created to probe DavSur ambush

DAVAO CITY — The Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office (DSPPO) is creating a special investigating task group (SITG) to dig deeper into the ambush in Bansalan, Davao del Sur last Sunday night that left two high school students dead and several others wounded.

DSPPO deputy provincial director for administration, Supt. Deozar Almasa, said the SITG will look into several possible angles on the incident aside from the clan war.

“Daghan man tag mga angulo, pwede pangayaw, pwede pud rebelde o naa bay nasuko sa ilaha, kanang mga angguloha ato pa ng ginatan-aw karon (There are many possible angles on the crime, it might be Pangayaw (Clan War) it can be perpetrated by the rebels or personal grudge, those are the angles that we look into),” he said.

Almasa said that previously there were same incidents of ambush in the said town, but they need to dig deeper on the case.

Earlier, Kiblawan Municipal Police Station (MPS) acting commander, Senior Insp. Erich Von Requilman, said the motive behind tbe attack could be pangayaw of the B’laan, which according to the elders in the town this already existed for many years.

Reguilman also pointed out that most of the victims belong to the B’laan tribe.

Jimboy Linkanay, 16, was instantly killed in the attack and Neilbert Malason who was confined at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City, died after suffering complications due to serious injuries he sustained.

The wounded were identified as James Paul Samo, 18; Mildred Linkanay, 15; Jiv Cris Malalay,17; Jimboy Sumali,25; Marlon Malanson; Mark Gil Tol, truck driver and Aries Caluyan, 15.
