SC junks Marcos electoral protest vs VP Robredo

The Supreme Court (SC) standing as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) has junked the electoral protest of former senator and vice presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. against Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo on the result of the 2016 vice presidential race.

In a press briefing, SC Spokesman Brian Keith Hosaka announced that the voting results of the PET members is unanimous. Out of the 15 magistrates, 7 “fully concurred” with the dismissal while 8 have agreed with the results. The SC is yet to release the resolution on the basis of the voting and dismissal.

It can be recalled that Marcos identified 3 causes of action in his electoral protest including the recount in 27 provinces, and voiding of the election results in Maguindanao, Lanao Del Sur, and Basilan. Report from Kenneth Paciente
