50,000 inoculators needed for upcoming vaccine rollout

Around 50,000 vaccinators are needed by the Department of Health (DOH) for the COVID-19 inoculation of priority sectors.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained that this figure is based on the number of initial vaccine recipients. The DOH is currently training 4,000 vaccinators who will serve as trainors in various areas of the country.

Among the priority beneficiaries in the rollout are healthcare workers, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities.

Usec. Vergeire cited in the Laging Handa Public Briefing that included in the system are 186,562 healthcare workers, 1.4 million senior citizens, 3 million indigents, and 164,000 from the uniformed service. The first batch of vaccines are expected to arrive in the country this month.
