PRRD urges Filipinos to get vaccinated

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has encouraged the public to participate in the national vaccination program of the government instead of being afraid of the vaccine.

As the Chief Executive welcomed the arrival of the first batch of vaccines developed by Sinovac, he asked the Filipinos to “please set your fears aside”.

He assured that the vaccines are “backed by Science and deliberated by Filipino experts”.

President Duterte disclosed in his press conference that he would like to receive the vaccine. However, he is still waiting for his doctor’s advice regarding the matter considering the fact that he is a senior citizen.

“It is to my self-interest that I should get one. No doubt about it. As to what brand, iyan ang problema (that’s the problem) because it is left to the sound discretion of my doctor.”

The President also guaranteed that the Chinese-developed vaccine CoronaVac is “effective” and that its efficacy is “good”.

“I encourage you to get vaccinated at the soonest possible time and be a partner in preventing the further spread of the disease.” Report from Mela Lesmoras/PTV News Online
