800 doses of Sinovac vaccine reach PNP General Hospital

800 doses of the Sinovac vaccine have arrived at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital Monday morning.

The members of the PNP Health Service along with the staff of the PNP General Hospital were the first ones to be vaccinated in the organization.

According to PNP Health Service Director Police Brigadier General Luisito Magnaye, the vaccine will provide them protection against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The PNP aims to inoculate 200 individuals a day therefore finishing the vaccine rollout within 4 days. The PNP Health Service will continue to monitor all the vaccinated members for possible adverse effects. However, PNP Chief Police General Debold Sinas and other high ranking officials of the PNP will not be part of the first batch to be vaccinated.

“Kung mapansin niyo buong liderato ng PNP ay nangangako na kami sana ang manguna magpavaccine. However, the instruction of the DOH is very specific, unahin muna natin ang mga health workers natin (The whole PNP administration vowed to be the first ones to be vaccinated. However, the instruction of the DOH is very specific, health workers must be prioritized).”

Under the PNP’s priority list, the first to be vaccinated are the medical frontliners, next are the PNP personnel with medical conditions, and the third are the key officials of the PNP.

According to the PNP- Administrative Support for COVID-19 Task Force (ASCOTF), 75% of the organization is willing to be vaccinated. PNP-ASCOTF Police Lieutenant Guillermo Eleazar stated that police officers are not forced to receive the vaccine but it is the “obligation of the PNP leadership” to provide protection for the organization.
