Medical workers get first COVID-19 vax in Pasig

The number of frontline workers willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Pasig City General Hospital and Pasig City Children’s Hospital has increased a day after the mini rollout of vaccines in the country.

The initial total of 118 medical frontliners in the vaccination list rose to 153, with 35 more personnel joining the symbolic vaccination in Pasig City.

The first recipient of CoronaVac is Dr. Nerissa Sabarre, the head of Pasig City General Hospital and COVID-19 Referral Center of Pasig. The vaccine brand has been her choice, trusting that it is safe and effective.

The city received 600 doses of the vaccine developed by Sinovac which are to be allocated to 300 employees.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon said more medical frontliners got themselves listed for the vaccination after the successful rollout on Monday. He is positive that more individuals will be encouraged to join the vaccination in the coming days.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has not yet been vaccinated in accordance with the priority list of the government focusing initially on medical frontline workers attending to COVID-19 patients.

Based on the latest COVID-19 report of the city information office, there are currently 243 active cases out of the over 1,000 cases in Pasig. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla
