Taguig gets doses of CoronaVac, health workers take first shot

The City of Taguig on Tuesday received the initial 300 doses of COVID-19 vaccines developed by Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac a day after the national government rolled out its inoculation program.

The ceremonial event was led by Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Epimaco Densing.

Among the first recipients of the vaccine is Taguig-Pateros District Hospital medical director Anna Richie Quilatan who previously tested positive for COVID-19.

“I feel protected, so mas may confidence,” she shared.

A total of 150 health workers will be vaccinated this week with the initial vaccine donation.

Around 900 individuals have already preregistered at the TPDH or an equivalent of all its employees.

“All of these health workers are ready which ever vaccine brand arrives,” Dr. Jennifer Lou Lorico-De Guzman, medical coordinator of the National Immunization Program of Taguig, said.

The inoculation of the 70 target recipients was almost finished as of Tuesday afternoon, while the first dose vaccination of the remaining 80 health workers is set to be completed by Wednesday. – Report from Karen Villanda
