DOH: 20 vaccine recipients experience adverse effects

The Department of Health (DOH) reported that 20 CoronaVac recipients have experienced adverse effects.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire confirmed in a public briefing that the adverse effects were mild and common and that no one was admitted to a hospital.

“Among the 20 individuals, ito ay mga minor and common na sintomas pagkatapos maturukan, masakit po yung braso nila, may isang nag-experience ng pangangati or rushes, may masakit ang ulo pagkatapos, ‘yung isa ay naka-experience na parang naduduwal, and ‘yung iba po ay naka-experience ng pagtaas ng presyon. (Among the 20 individuals, the minor and common symptoms after getting vaccinated include sore arms, one experienced itching or rushes, one had a headache, one experienced nausea, and others experienced high blood pressure).”

According to the department, 756 health workers have been vaccinated on the first day of the vaccination rollout of the country. The vaccine recipients will receive the second dose 28 days after the first and they will be monitored within a year to see the effects of the vaccine.

Given the importance of achieving the country’s target herd immunity, the DOH will be observing the number of the vaccine recipients for a week to see if the confidence of the public will increase. Report from Mark Fetalco
