PCW recognizes women’s participation vs COVID-19

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) has recognized the participation of women in the fight against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day.

In an online forum launched by the PCW in cooperation with the United Nations Women- Asia and the Pacific, issues that women face during the public health crisis were discussed. The commission called for a strengthened policy that pushes for gender equality.

In relation with this, the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) offered free rides for women on Monday. According to its administration, the free rides are considered as its salute to females.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) also celebrated the day by highlighting the products created by female farmers in various areas of the country. The department also acknowledges the contribution of women in the agriculture sector.
